6-23-2026 Intel Guru Reset Intelligence Two years ago if you ran a bank in Iraq and wanted to move a single dollar to New York you mostly could not. No western bank would clear it. The country was a compliance risk…This weekend it began to turn. Iraq’s prime minister walked into the CBI and handed it to the man who used to run the country’s anti-money laundering office. Just two days before the Global Financial Watchdog handed Baghdad a written list of nine fixes on a deadline. Clean the books. Trace every owner. Open the doors. Do that and the system lets Baghdad back in. This is not a theory. Eight months ago, Nigeria and South Africa did exactly this. They worked their way off the same watchlist. Almost overnight the correspondent banks came back. The extra scrutiny eased and Nigeria alone pulled in around $30 billion of investment that had been sitting on its hands…Getting off [that list] is the way back to the dollar and Iraq just stepped onto that path. The issue of border crossings in Iraq is a complex and sensitive one. The delay in implementing job rotation procedures (the periodic transfer of employees and officers) is due to the entanglement of interests and influence. Border crossings have always been areas of influence for political parties and armed groups that impose their control over the movement of goods and smuggling, making it difficult to make comprehensive rotation decisions without facing political pressure or direct obstruction of this decision.
The General Authority of Customs in Iraq says that it has completed the process of transferring, dismissing and rotating the directors of customs centers and their deputies, which came under the directives of Prime Minister Ali al-Zubaidi, including rotating all Read more…

Iraq is suffering from a significant decline in its oil and non-oil revenues due to the decline in oil prices and the economic recession that has put pressure on non-oil revenues. The revenue crisis has worsened since the beginning of this year and the region’s entry into a heated conflict, especially after the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and the drop in oil exports to their lowest levels.
The previous Sudanese government designed the general budget based on an approximate annual deficit of 24 trillion Iraqi dinars. When Al-Zidi took over the premiership, he found this large deficit in his lap, and he had to deal with it through fiscal and monetary policy tools. It seems that many tools were proposed, but the most dangerous of them for the Iraqi economy is manipulating the exchange rate, especially since Read more…
